Great primer!!!
This book is great book to present to a newly raised Master Mason. Sadly Masons rarely receive the proper instructions they will need to be a successful member of the Fraternity.
I feel this book will be the perfect cornerstone for a young man to start his Masonic education. It explains the fundamentals of the Fraternity, being a lodge officer, a primer on Masonic law and a good introduction into symbolism.

What a great book
I ordered this book because I had heard it reviewed on the "Whence Came You" Podcast and sounded pretty good. I have found it to be a very good book, straight to the point, and in easy terms to understand. It's a great book for anyone but especially any Freemason.

A Must Read
This is a fantastic read. I was skeptical as many of the topics have been covered ad naseum but WB Poll takes a fresh approach and thoroughly explains the items in a way that both a new a seasoned Masonic reader will enjoy.

This is a very NECESSARY piece of Masonic Work...

I have been listening to a wonderfully simple, yet very thought-provoking book called “Measured Expectations: The Challenges of Today’s Freemasonry” by Bro. Michael R. Poll.
The opening chapter of the book is difficult to listen to because, quite honestly, the truth does hurt... it stings a lot, actually.
If one has fairly thick skin and is open-minded, I HIGHLY recommend this book. It seriously spoke to me on a VERY personal level.

Fantastic walk through Freemasonry
Listening to Mr. Poll’s insights into the history, purpose and meaning , its present condition, what it meant to those who have gone this way before, and what it can be to those of us in the Brotherhood today, was fascinating, insightful, and mind expanding. Having just completed my first pass I will now go back through, but this time I will be taking notes.

    Practical and Informative Information

Posted by Richard C. Lumb on Jul 18th 2017

I find Michael's book "dead on" in providing explanation and information about Masonry, those topics often not shared, not known by many, and a giant step to knowledge acquisition we erroneously assume people know. Well done and a book all Masons should read.
